Autumn Is Coming
After a red hot summer which seemed to go on for ever this weekends shoot the weather had turned. Was this a turning point for the year.
I was after woodland images and my chosen location for this image was Dodd Wood near Keswick. Situated at the side of Bassenthwaite Lake where you get great views of Derwentwater and also the hills of Dumfries and Galloway once you have climbed to the summit.
The day before I made this image it was warm and humid but alter that afternoon it did start to rain. This continued through the night till the next morning. Mist and damp weather was perfect for me to take advantage of these conditions and find a composition more suited for a soft woodland autumnal image. I found that these three trees contrasted well and stood out from the rest of the woodland. With a splash of Autumnal colours making a nice touch within the composition. I framed up the shot with a Canon 70-200 f4L lens attached to my Canon 5dmk3 in portrait mode to take the shot. I am really pleased with this image and to capture the changes in season at such an early stage is rather nice.
